PROJECT DESCRIPTION
When DirecTV joined forces with tennis legend Serena Williams, it was time for an epic campaign. Current cooked up a fantastic AR game that ran on multiple platforms to add some spice to the campaign. Building on the TV spot’s 3D tennis robot, Current took those complicated models and simplified them into smaller, more efficient assets with simple rigging for the game. Current built two versions of the Tennis Bots, the smaller, more agile bots users face early in the game and the massive boss bot at the end of the levels. The game is played in user’s own environments in stunning Augmented Reality. As “Wonder Williams” players unleash powerful tennis ball shots with their golden racquet to take down wave after wave of Tennis Bot enemies. Users can also get power ups by hitting the DirecTV Stream crates that appear in the game. The game keeps getting more and more frenzied as players progress making this first of it’s kind mini game incredibly addictive. This game performed incredibly well for DirecTV Stream contributing to billions of impressions online (counting all Digital Activations).
