PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In a clever marketing move, the Chicago Field Museum enlisted Current to link Facebook users with their "Fantastic Bug Encounters" exhibit. How? Through five fun bug-themed face filters that added a unique twist to the experience. What made this campaign stand out was the use of Facebook Messenger chat bots in each face filter. Users took a quick quiz with these bots, and based on their answers, they got a personalized face filter that turned them into one of five intriguing bugs: orchid mantis, Japanese honeybee, dragonfly, bombardier beetle, or jewel wasp. This campaign mixed technology, quizzes, and the appeal of face filters to build a bridge between the digital realm and the fascinating bug exhibit. It not only caught the interest of Facebook users but also enticed them to explore the world of insects at the Field Museum. This project shows how creative tech integration and social media can boost cultural exhibit promotion and engage audiences in a unique way. Current’s bug face filters not only created a buzz (no pun) but also turned digital exploration into real museum visits, making it a big hit.
