Rakuten

Can You Say Rakuten?

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Rakuten had a clever plan to make a splash in the U.S., and they turned to Current for some creative magic. Rakuten wanted to have some fun with the common mispronunciation of their brand name. So, they hit the streets of regions known for their tricky pronunciations and set up shop. Current crafted a massive, 7-foot-tall monolith-style box that became the center of attention. This box had a special talent – it could listen to how people pronounced “Rakuten." Here's where the excitement kicked in. If someone managed to say "Rakuten" correctly, they were in for a surprise – a flurry of cash! But if they stumbled over the name, a big, flashing "WRONG" animation appeared, giving them another shot. This whole setup was like a game show on the streets, directed by Tony Biancosino. It not only added a touch of humor but also gave people a chance to win some cash by getting the name right. Rakuten's playful approach was a hit, and it certainly got people talking about the brand!
